TMPVL ⨯ PCU Initiative: Strengthening Industry−Academia Integration through Mechatronics Diploma Launch
The Certificate and Diploma Program Ceremony under the collaboration of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited and Pimpri Chinchwad University was successfully organized on 31st March 2026 at the Tata Motors facility in Pune.
A key highlight of the event was the official launch of the Diploma Program in Mechatronics Engineering (First Batch). This joint initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements by providing students with hands-on experience and practical training. It reflects a strong commitment to enabling students to take ownership of their learning journeyBA;building everything for themselves through real-world exposure. The program witnessed the presence of senior leaders from Tata Motors, including Plant Head Mr. Neeraj Agrawal, HR Head Mr. Vivek Bindra, Corporate Learning & Development Head Dr. Ranga Gunti, and ER Head Mr. Santosh Badhe. Their presence emphasized the importance of skill development and nurturing future-ready professionals.
The event commenced with a welcome session, followed by networking and a plant visit. Faculty members experienced advanced assembly lines, robotic automation, and women-led production systems, gaining deep insights into modern manufacturing practices and evolving industry trends. A significant segment of the program included a detailed presentation by Skill Development Head Mr. Shashikant Rode, who shared insights into Tata Motors journey, current initiatives, and future vision. His session highlighted the importance of structured learning, industry integration, and continuous innovation. During the formal ceremony, Hon. Vice Chancellor Dr. Santosh S. Sonawane delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing that knowledge alone is not enough; it is the responsible and purposeful application of knowledge that truly matters. He highlighted that education must extend beyond classrooms to become a tool for transformation, enabling students to solve real-world challenges and create meaningful impact. Program Head Dr. Umesh G. Potdar elaborated on the structure and vision of the TMPVL Diploma Program, emphasizing its focus on integrating classroom learning with industrial exposure. Students actively participated in the feedback session, sharing their learning experiences and the impact of practical exposure on their personal and professional development.
The event was attended by esteemed faculty and officials from PCU, including Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Sudeep Thepade, Dr. Amit Patil (Dean, School of Management), Dr. Vijay Patil (Dean, School of Engineering & Technology), Dr. Abhijeet Banubakode (Director, CSE), Dr. Bharat Kale (Director, R&D), Dr. Kamlesh Meshram (Head, School of Computer Applications), Dr. Neeru Malik (Associate Director, Innovation & Entrepreneurship), Dr. Pallavi Ahire, Dr. Pranav Charkha, Dr. Satpalsingh Rajput, Dr. Shankar Deosarkar, Dr. Swati Shirke, and Dr. Ramdas Biradar.
