Special Expert Session by Mr. Bart Roels

The School of Law, PCU organized a Special Expert Session for law students on 28th January 2026 on the topic “History of European Union Social Law. ” The session was delivered by Mr. Bart Roels, a renowned academician from the University of Antwerp, Belgium, with the objective of exposing students to international legal perspectives and comparative social law frameworks.

The program began with the formal proceedings, which were anchored by Ms. Amruta Yadav, a B.A. LL.B. student of the School of Law. She welcomed the audience and introduced the theme of the session along with the distinguished guest speaker. Head of Department Mr. Priyank Rana, Assistant Professor Mr. Rajat Khamkar, Mr. Vishnu Yadav, Ms. Mrunal Katolkar, Dr. Prasannatta Ramatirthe were present.

The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Pradeep Yadav, Dean, School of Law, PCU, who highlighted the importance of understanding global legal systems in today’s interconnected world. He emphasized how European Union Social Law has played a significant role in shaping labour rights and social welfare policies, and he extended a warm welcome to Mr. Bart Roels.

During the expert lecture, Mr. Bart Roels provided an insightful overview of the historical evolution of European Union Social Law. He discussed its development from early European integration efforts to the present legal framework governing social policy, labour rights, and social security within the EU. The session was highly informative and encouraged active interaction, with students participating enthusiastically in the discussion and question-and-answer segment.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Shreya, who expressed sincere gratitude to the guest speaker for sharing his valuable knowledge. She also thanked the Dean, faculty members, organizers, and students for their support and participation, which contributed to the success of the event.
