PCU Faculty Visit Sharadchandra Pawar Centre of Excellence in AI for Academic and Research Exposure
On 24 January 2026, PCET's Pimpri Chinchwad University (PCU), Pune organized an academic and research exposure visit to the Sharadchandra Pawar Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence at Vidya Pratisthan's Kamalnayan Bajaj College of Engineering, Baramati. This initiative reflects PCU's strategic vision to strengthen AI education, interdisciplinary research, and industry-aligned learning.
The visit was coordinated by Dr. Shankar Deosarkar, Director - International Relations, and Dr. Archana Rathore, Director - Faculty Development and Welfare. Faculty members gained first-hand exposure to advanced AI infrastructure and innovation-driven laboratories. The Centre integrates teaching, applied research, startup incubation, and industry collaboration under one academic ecosystem.
PCU faculty explored facilities including the Data Science and Data Analytics Lab, Quantum AI Lab, Natural Language Processing Lab, Drone Technology Lab, AI and Virtual Reality Lab, Sustainable Cities Lab, Computer Vision Lab, High Performance Computing (HPC) Lab, and Blockchain Technology Lab. These labs demonstrate real-world AI applications in healthcare, smart cities, governance, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.
The visit provided insights into experiential learning, AI-driven pedagogy, curriculum innovation, and research commercialization through incubation support. Faculty identified opportunities for joint research projects, faculty development programs, student innovation initiatives, and academic collaboration.
