Workshop On Structured Medical Nutrition Training For Malnutrition Screening And Assessment

The School of Sciences, in collaboration with IAPEN and Jehangir Hospital, successfully conducted a Structured Medical Nutrition Training session on Malnutrition Screening and Assessment. The session was graced by the presence of Ms. Richa Shukla, Head of Dietetics at Jehangir Hospital and Honorary Secretary of IAPEN India, Pune Chapter, as the esteemed guest speaker.The event was meticulously organized by the dedicated students of the Raahat Diet and Wellness Clinic, showcasing their commitment to raising awareness and imparting practical knowledge in the field of clinical nutrition. The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Ruchu Kuthiala, who highlighted the purpose and benefits of such specialized workshops in enhancing student competencies and bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical application. Ms. Richa Shukla delivered a comprehensive and insightful session on malnutrition, emphasizing its definition, causes, and the dire need for proper screening and assessment in clinical practice. She presented alarming statistics on malnutrition and discussed various evidence-based tools used for assessment, including:

  • MUST (Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool)
  • MNI (Malnutrition Screening Index)
  • GLIM (Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition)

Participants gained valuable insights into best practices and protocols for assessing nutritional status and identifying individuals at risk of malnutrition. The interactive nature of the session encouraged student engagement and clarified several clinical concepts.The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Amruta Desai, who expressed gratitude to Ms. Richa Shukla, the organizing team, and all participants for making the workshop a meaningful learning experience. This training session underscored the importance of structured approaches to malnutrition screening and highlighted the pivotal role of clinical nutritionists in improving health outcomes.

Nutrisoul Event

On the occasion of World food day and world mental health day The School of Sciences at PCU hosted its signature event NUTRISOUL on October 25, 2024 , a full-day event promoting physical and mental well-being, with 100 enthusiastic participants, including 30 Nutrition and Dietetics (ND) and 70 Clinical Psychology (CP) students from Semesters I and III. Students organized stalls featuring healthy food and mind games, while wellness check-ups for PCU faculty assessed blood pressure, blood sugar, Body Composition Analysis, stress, burnout, and anxiety. Certificates for achievement and excellence were awarded to the recognised students and faculty members, and PCU Raahat Club members were recognized. The event highlighted holistic wellness and fostered collaboration among disciplines.

Wellness Camp At I Feel

PCU School of Sciences in association with PCU RAAHATT – diet and wellnss clinic organised a 2 days Wellness camp at I Feel (Institute for Future Education Entrepreneurship & Leadership) – Lonavala , on 13th and 14th Sep.24 ,the camp was organised by the HoD , all faculty members and students of BSc. 2nd year Clinical Psychology and Bsc. Nutrition and Dietiticas - School of Sciences for 1st and 2nd year students (200) at I Feel institute. Services such as Fasting sugar levels, BMI, BCA, Blood Sugar checkups were provided along with Psychological assessments such as stress, anxiety and emotional Quotient for the students and the faculty members, a relaxing meditation and Zumba session was conducted by 1st year student volunteers from SOS.

Raahat Zumba Session

On World Health Day, April 6, 2024, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, the PCU School of Sciences and PCU Raahat organized a Wellness and Zumba session for faculty members. The Zumba session, led by B.Sc. Clinical Psychology student volunteers, and a meditation session conducted by HoD Prof. Ruchu Kuthiala, offered a refreshing start to the day. Participants were later served detox drinks and healthy snacks prepared by B.Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics students. The event received an enthusiastic response and was highly appreciated for its focus on health and well-being.

Field Project - Engaging Children In Various Activities Like-Dance Therapy, Music Therapy And Counselling Sessions With Parents At CRPF,Talegaon

The School of Sciences collaborated with the CRPF Special Education and Pre-Primary Montessori School for a community engagement project, offering practical experience to second-year B.Sc. Clinical Psychology and B.Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics students. Nutrition students conducted nutritional assessments, created educational programs on healthy eating, and addressed dietary needs. Clinical Psychology students developed case studies, devised personalized support strategies, led Zumba and art therapy sessions, and assisted teachers in providing individualized attention. The initiative promoted student well-being and development while fostering real-world learning.
