About the Organization

About the Z-Inspection®

Z-Inspection® is a global association that has developed a holistic, analytic process to assess Trustworthy and Ethical AI in real-world practice. It brings together 100+ affiliated experts and 80+ affiliated institutions and labs across 40+ countries, spanning AI, ethics, law, human rights, healthcare, public policy and business. In March 2026 it was formally established in Sweden as the Association for Responsible and Trustworthy AI.

  • OECD recognition

    The Z-Inspection® process is listed in the OECD Catalogue of AI Tools & Metrics.

  • Regulatory relevance

    The process is positioned as relevant to compliance with the EU Artificial Intelligence Act.

  • Publications

    Core methodology published in IEEE Transactions on Technology and Society (2021), with further work in Frontiers, Springer Digital Society, Springer AI and Ethics (2026) and arXiv.

  • Award

    Pilot with the Dutch Ministry of the Interior (Rijks ICT Gilde) and Province of Fryslân won the 2025 ISSIP Award for Excellence in Service Innovation – Impact to Society.

  • Higher education pilot

    Ongoing pilot with the University of Toronto on trustworthiness of Generative AI in AI-assisted marking and feedback, following UNESCO guidance.

    Pimpri Chinchwad University (PCU), Pune, is a multidisciplinary, research-oriented university committed to academic excellence, innovation, experiential learning and industry integration. Established under the Government of Maharashtra Act No. V of 2023 and included under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, PCU brings together academic learning, research, entrepreneurship and industry engagement across a diverse range of disciplines.

  • Z-Inspection®

    Z-Inspection® is a holistic process for assessing the trustworthiness of AI systems in practice. It adopts a participatory and interdisciplinary approach that examines AI systems through socio-technical scenarios, claims and evidence, with particular attention to ethical issues, tensions and relevant trustworthy-AI principles. The process supports the identification of risks and the development of recommendations for responsible AI development and deployment.

Z-Inspection® brings together interdisciplinary expertise to examine claims and evidence, identify ethical issues and map them to relevant principles before developing recommendations for responsible deployment.
