Pimpri Chinchwad University’s School of Engineering & Technology (SOET) organised the Deeksharambh – Induction Ceremony 2026–27 on Monday, 17 August 2026, to warmly welcome the newly admitted students of the university’s second engineering batch.
The programme introduced students to PCU’s academic ecosystem and highlighted the importance of academic excellence, industry-oriented education, skill development, innovation, international opportunities and holistic personality development.
Dr. Girish Desai, Executive Director, PCET, and President of the programme, highlighted PCET’s 36-year legacy of quality education and encouraged students to become not just users of technology but creators of technology. He urged students to make the most of opportunities such as international exposure, skill-development programmes, semester exchange initiatives, KOSME and Coursera. He also encouraged parents to give students the freedom to learn, build their confidence and believe in themselves.
Dr. Santosh S. Sonavane, Vice Chancellor, PCU, welcomed the new students and emphasised the significance of the occasion for the university. Referring to PCU’s achievement of crossing the milestone of 6,000 students within just three years, he highlighted the university’s modern infrastructure, industry-oriented curriculum and experiential learning approach. He also emphasised opportunities with Japanese, Korean and German industries and the importance of learning foreign languages.
Dr. Ramdas G. Biradar, Director – Outreach & Admissions and Head – First Year Engineering, assured parents of PCU’s strong academic ecosystem and encouraged students to strengthen their fundamentals in engineering while making full use of the opportunities available at the university.
Dr. Shitalkumar Rawandale, Advisor, PCU, encouraged students to maintain discipline, consistency and a positive attitude. He emphasised the importance of undertaking projects, internships and online courses alongside academics and staying continuously connected with the industry. He urged students to consistently prepare themselves to face challenges and embrace new opportunities.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Deepak Mahaisekar, highlighted the importance of personality and character development alongside technical knowledge. He encouraged students to become responsible citizens who respect the law, develop a regular reading habit and continuously update their knowledge. He emphasised that there are no shortcuts to acquiring knowledge and spoke about the importance of self-awareness, meditation and understanding one’s purpose in life.
The Guest of Honour, Mr. Nikhil Shintre, congratulated the students on beginning their engineering journey. He encouraged them to identify their areas of interest and build strong foundational engineering knowledge. He also emphasised that in the age of AI, students must continuously learn, relearn, experiment, learn from mistakes and keep moving forward.
Ms. Yujin Han, a Korean business professional and COO, highlighted the growing business relationship between India and Korea. She encouraged students to explore Korean language and culture while taking advantage of opportunities offered through KOSME and international industry collaborations.
Japanese Cultural Programme Specialist Ms. Meiko Katahira also attended the programme and guided students on opportunities for international and cultural exposure. Her presence highlighted the importance of learning Japanese language and culture and engaging with Japan’s industry ecosystem.
A Student Reference Manual prepared specifically for the students was unveiled during the programme. The manual provides essential information to support students throughout their academic and university journey.
The ceremony also featured the felicitation of meritorious students and academic toppers, recognising their achievements and celebrating their pursuit of excellence. Their accomplishments served as an inspiration for the new batch as they began their own academic journey.
The programme was attended by dignitaries and representatives from PCET and PCU, faculty members, staff, students and parents. The event reflected PCU’s commitment to industry-oriented education, global exposure and future-ready learning.
Deeksharambh 2026–27 was more than a welcome ceremony—it marked the inspiring beginning of a new journey driven by knowledge, skills, confidence, innovation and a commitment to creating meaningful impact in society.
