Pimpri, January 2025 – Pimpri Chinchwad University (PCU) successfully hosted PCU Explore Germany 2025, an immersive and vibrant celebration dedicated to German culture, language, and international collaboration. The event brought together an esteemed panel of guests and enthusiastic students, fostering an enriching environment for cultural exchange and learning.
Addressing the audience, the Vice Chancellor of PCU Dr. Manimala Puri delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the significance of learning new languages for overall personality development. She emphasized that in the near future, Global Citizenry will become a crucial aspect of personal and professional growth.
Dr. Sudeep Thepade, Pro-Vice Chancellor of PCU, emphasized the importance of equipping students with practical skills and cross-cultural competencies. He stated, "In today's interconnected world, understanding different cultures and languages is not just an academic pursuit, but a vital skill for success. At PCU, we are committed to providing students with opportunities to gain these essential skills through events like PCU Explore Germany 2025."
A major highlight of the event was the felicitation of distinguished guests, including:
- Dr. Sarita Kelkar, Hon. Director of the Ferguson Center for Languages and recipient of Germany’s highest citizenship honor. She spoke about the cultural similarities between Germany and India, emphasizing the importance of preparing students culturally for international experiences. Dr. Kelkar, a pioneer of student exchange programs from Pune, also shared her valuable insights.
- Dr. Christina Rath, a distinguished professor from SPPU, who provided in-depth information about DAAD India, explaining the scholarship process for students, reasons to choose Germany for further education, and the growing industries in the country.
- Mr. Kuber Kapoor, Country Head of GEDU, who offered valuable insights into the education system and career opportunities in Germany as well as the global market.
- Ms. Sharayu Jorkar, Document Verification Officer at the Delhi Embassy, who explained the document process and verification intricacies while also sharing insights about securing jobs in foreign companies.
- Ms. Daksha Oak, who highlighted the challenges faced by students while learning German, career opportunities available after mastering the language, and the importance of getting the right guidance, including information on scholarship programs.
The event also featured an engaging session on the traditional German Schuhplattler dance, providing attendees with insights into Germany's cultural heritage.
