The LL.M. programme at PCU School of Law is designed to provide advanced and research-oriented legal education to graduates aspiring for leadership roles in litigation, judiciary, corporate legal practice, academia, public policy, and legal consultancy. About LL.M. (Constitutional / Criminal / Business Law)
A 1-year master’s programme offering in-depth study of advanced legal concepts with specializations in Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, or Business Law, as prescribed by the Bar Council of India.
The LL.M. at PCU School of Law is a Master of Laws programme that provides an in-depth study of law and legislature beyond the undergraduate level. Recognised as one of the top law colleges in India and a premier law school in Pune, PCU’s School of Law offers three distinct specialisation tracks — Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, and Business Law — each aligned with Bar Council of India norms. Choose a focused path in Constitutional, Criminal, or Business Law.
Students select one of three specialisation tracks. Each track shares a common Semester I foundation — Research Methodology, Law and Justice in a Globalized World, and Comparative Constitutional Law — before diverging into specialisation-specific subjects in Semester I and concluding with a Dissertation in Semester II. The Business Law specialisation covers Banking and Insurance Laws, Corporate Governance, Law of Securities and Financial Market, International Commercial Arbitration, Competition Law, and Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. The Criminal Law specialisation covers International Criminal Law, Criminology and Criminal Justice Administration, Police Law and Administration, Penology and Victimology, White Collar Crime and Economic Offences, and Privileged Class Deviance. The Constitutional Law specialisation covers Ethics in Public Policy, Local Self Governance, Fundamental Rights and Directive Principles of State Policy, Administrative Law, Election Law, and Media Law.

Research, Dissertation & Advanced Learning
Research is a central pillar of the LL.M. programme at PCU. All students begin with a dedicated Research Methodology course in Semester I, providing a rigorous foundation in legal research design, academic writing, and scholarly analysis. This is followed by advanced specialisation study through the chosen track. In Semester II, every student undertakes a supervised Dissertation in their chosen specialisation — Business Law, Criminal Law, or Constitutional Law — producing an original, policy-relevant piece of legal scholarship. Students also benefit from Workshops on Advocacy Skills and Contemporary and Emerging Legal Issues, seminars, and Community Engagement through Legal Aid Clinics, ensuring that research learning remains grounded in real-world legal contexts. The programme further includes Educational Visits to the High Court, Jail, and Legislative Assembly to deepen applied understanding.

Programme Flow & Learning Journey

The LL.M. programme at PCU is structured over one year across two semesters, with a maximum permissible duration of two years. Semester I is common across all three specialisations, beginning with Research Methodology, Law and Justice in a Globalized World, and Comparative Constitutional Law. These are then supplemented by three specialisation-specific subjects — either from Business Law (Banking and Insurance Laws, Corporate Governance, Law of Securities and Financial Market), Criminal Law (International Criminal Law, Criminology and Criminal Justice Administration, Police Law and Administration), or Constitutional Law (Ethics in Public Policy, Local Self Governance, Fundamental Rights and Directive Principles of State Policy). Semester II deepens the specialisation with further advanced subjects and culminates in a supervised Dissertation, which forms the research core of the entire programme.

Admission & Eligibility
How to apply for LL.M. (Constitutional / Criminal / Business Law)
Admission to the LL.M. programme at PCU School of Law is open to candidates who hold a three-year or five-year LL.B. degree from any recognised university or institution of national importance, with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for candidates from reserved categories). The programme is approved by the Bar Council of India. The annual fee is ₹1,00,000 and the admission fee is Rs 10,000. The maximum duration to complete the course is two years from the date of admission.
