In response to the rising demand for integrated programs that combine academic rigor with targeted civil service preparation, Pimpri Chinchwad University is proud to offer the B.A. Social Sciences program. This unique four-year undergraduate degree is meticulously designed to cover all the aspects of social sciences and to equip aspiring civil servants with the knowledge, skills, and guidance necessary to excel in administrative careers.
The program recognises the aspirations of young candidates seeking a strong academic foundation while strategically preparing for their goals. The curriculum closely aligns with the latest syllabi of major exams needed to be passed to get into government services, ensuring students gain a deep understanding of core subjects. Students will also benefit from invaluable guidance from retired civil servants, who provide insights into the examination process and real-world experiences. This innovative program strikes a perfect balance, nurturing academic excellence while simultaneously nurturing and serving the civil service aspirations of the Indian youth in general and Maharashtra in particular.

Program Objectives

  • Gain Critical Insights: To enable students to examine social, economic, cultural, and environmental issues impacting India's diverse regions and the wider world. Analyse poverty, economic disparities, cultural influences, and environmental concerns. Learn to think analytically, consider various perspectives, and propose solutions for a more just and sustainable future.
  • Develop a Strong Sense of Public Service: It aims to instil a profound sense of public service in students by nurturing their motivation and emphasising ethical conduct, transparency, and accountability. Through a holistic approach, students will be encouraged to understand the significance of public service, develop a strong sense of responsibility towards the community, and uphold the highest ethical standards.
  • Enhance Employability: Not only in the government sector but also in various other domains. The comprehensive curriculum and diverse skill set developed through this program will enable students to pursue careers in social and development sectors, corporate organisations, think tanks, research institutions, and even as image consultants.
  • Understand India's Position in the Global Arena: To provide a deep understanding of India's role in the global landscape and its interactions with other nations and international bodies. Through comprehensive study, students will explore India's diplomatic, economic, and cultural relationships with other countries, as well as its involvement in international organisations. This will involve analysing India's foreign policies, trade agreements, and participation in global initiatives.
  • Develop Competencies to Qualify Civil Service: It will empower students with the essential competencies needed to qualify for prestigious civil service positions such as IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and state PCS officers. Through a comprehensive curriculum, students develop a deep understanding of subjects such as Polity, Society, Geography, History, Ethics, Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude.

Eligibility

Passed 10 + 2 examination or equivalent in any discipline (Arts/Humanities/Science/Commerce).

Obtained at least 45 % marks (40 marks in case of candidates from reserved category)
