
In a momentous event that marks the beginning of a new academic era, P.C.E.T’s Pimpri Chinchwad University proudly hosted its first-ever Deeksharambha Ceremony for the students of Bsc, BBA, BCA, MCA, BBA, MBA and B.Des programs. The ceremony, held on 21st August, brought together an air of excitement, tradition, and promise as students, faculty, and dignitaries joined hands to embark on a journey of knowledge and growth. This landmark event symbolizes the university’s commitment to nurturing young minds and molding them into future leaders and changemakers.
Deeksharambha, a term derived from the Sanskrit words “Deeksha” (initiation) and “Arambha” (beginning), encapsulates the essence of the event. The ceremony is not just a formal induction; it’s a rite of passage for students as they transition from their previous educational experiences to the dynamic and challenging world of higher education.
Traditionally, Deeksharambha holds immense significance in Indian culture. It is seen as a spiritual initiation that marks the start of a new phase in life. Similarly, in the context of higher education, the Deeksharambha Ceremony signifies a fresh chapter in students’ academic journeys, filled with learning, exploration, and personal growth.
Pimpri Chinchwad University’s (PCU) first ‘Deeksharambha’ (Induction) student reception for the academic year 2023-24 was held at its headquarters in Sate, Maval on Thursday, 21 st August at 11:00 am and the students completed the registration procedure along with their parents. The Chief Guest of the program was Dr. D. K. Bandyopadhyay (former VC- GGSIPU, Former Director-IIM Lucknow and former director-IIFM), and the guests of honour were Dr. Rekha Chaudhary (Global Wellness Ambassador, India), Prof. K. M. Bharul Islam (Chairperson, Centre of Excellence in Public Policy & Govt., IIM Kashipur), Ms. Mamta Kaushal (Sr. Vice President, Yes Bank) and Mr. Abhijeet Bhoge (Founder and Director, Studio 34 Design & Art Pvt Limited) and Dr. Girish Desai (Executive Director, PCET) along with our Registrar Dr. D. N. Singh, Pro. Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajeev Bhardwaj.
The Deeksharambha Ceremony at P.C.E.T’s Pimpri Chinchwad University was a carefully crafted event that blended tradition with modernity. The excited students gathered at the university’s iconic auditorium, which was adorned with vibrant decorations symbolizing knowledge, diversity, and unity.
The event commenced with a melodious invocation followed by the auspicious lighting of the lamp by our guests of honour, setting a serene tone for the proceedings. Dignitaries, including esteemed faculty members and invited guests, shared inspiring words about the importance of education, determination, and the role of P.C.E.T’s Pimpri Chinchwad University in shaping future leaders.
Our Honourable Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. Rajeev Bhardwaj shared motivating and thought provoking words with the students by quoting a motivational dialogue from the film 3 Idiots stating, “Kaabil Bano, Kaamiyabi Jhak Maarke Peeche Ayegi” meaning the if one is capable and good at what he does, he/she will surely succeed in their endeavours. He also inspired the students by sharing the A,B,C,D’s of success and asked the students to work hard with complete dedication and they will surely taste the sweetness of success.
Our Honourable Guest of Honour, Dr. Rekha Chaudhary (Global Wellness Ambassador, India) addressed the students with highly motivating words. She shared her own story which stands as a testament for “hard work and dedication leads us to success”. She shared her inspiring story about building her future in wellness after the age of 40 , and the journey from living in a village to starting anew in a completely different city. She said the if one has the ability to take calculated risks and plan ahead, he/she can achieve anything in their lives. We must dare to have big dreams and even bigger dedication towards achieving those dreams.
Ms. Mamta Kaushal (Sr. Vice President, Yes Bank), our honourable guest of honour addressed the audience and their parents by stating the importance of working on one’s skill sets. She said don’t just study to get a job, but study to develop better skill sets that will stay with one for a lifetime. She assured the students that if they have a plan for their future and they work towards it with focus, they will never ever fumble in their lives.
Mr. Abhijeet Bhoge (Founder and Director, Studio 34 Design & Art pvt Limited), addressed the students about the importance of college live and having fun along with plan for achieving your goals. He said that the life which he/she will experience as a student will be cherished for a lifetime. Because these days aren’t coming back. He also stated that working hard has no substitute and that with hardwork and dedication alone ,one will be at the pinnacle of success.
Prof. K. M. Bharul Islam (Chairperson, Centre of Excellence in Public Policy & Govt., IIM Kashipur), started his address by telling the students the importance of strategic planning and time management. He stated that if anyone is listening to something for 1 hour, he/she must make it a habit to record/note down the points worth implementing in their lives and if they fail to do so, then they have wasted an hour of their lives. He asked the the students to find their passion and focus on one thing at a time and move forward with the thing they are passionate about. He advised the students to learn at least one new thing about their point of interest every day and build their future.
Dr. D. K. Bandyopadhyay (former VC- GGSIPU, Former Director-IIM Lucknow and former director-IIFM), our esteemed Chief Guest addressed the audience about importance of Disciplining oneself leading a goal oriented life. He stressed on the fact that successful people always have everything planned out and they take calculated risks. One must be brave enough to move ahead despite other people’s opinions stating examples of Albert Einstein and Beethoven. He quoted inspiring quotes from Leo Tolstoy, etc. and showed the students a series of motivating photographs and slides.
The vote of thanks was presented by our honourable Registrar, Dr. D N Singh, who shared his kind words of gratitude for all the Guests and dignitaries along with the faculty members. The event concluded with the Nation Anthem being sung by all the ones in attendance.
The Deeksharambha Ceremony was not just a one-time event; it marked the inception of a transformational period in the lives of the students. It symbolized the beginning of countless friendships, intellectual pursuits, and personal discoveries. As the students embark on this journey, the university will provide them with the necessary tools, resources, and support to excel academically and professionally.
