In a momentous gathering at P.C.E.T’s Pimpri Chinchwad University, that unfolded on the 1st and 2nd of October 2023, the Maharashtra State Press Council Accreditation Meeting convened at the esteemed Pimpri Chinchwad University (PCU) in Pune.

The rendezvous attracted a distinguished assembly of senior journalists and representatives from a spectrum of newspapers, electronic media outlets, and television channels. Against the verdant backdrop of PCU’s Vadgaon Maval campus, the event was elevated to a grandeur marked by the notable presence of key officials from the Maharashtra state government.

PCU, with its chest puffed in pride, played host to this pivotal congregation, representing the Government of Maharashtra in its role as the epicenter for the Maharashtra State Press Accreditation Council. The inauguration of the meeting bore the signature of Mr. Yadu Joshi, President of the Maharashtra State Press Council Accreditation, who warmly welcomed the gathered participants.

In a reflective moment, Mr. Joshi conveyed his deep appreciation for PCU’s unwavering support in orchestrating the logistics for the council meeting. He commended the university for its world-class infrastructure and the idyllic, mountainous expanse of the Maval region that cradled its serene campus.

A notable highlight of the proceedings was the esteemed presence and active participation of the Honourable Minister, Chandrakant Dada Patil, Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Textiles, and Parliamentary Affairs, and Guardian Minister of Pune. He addressed the ones in attendance with his brilliant and thought provoking address. He discussed the current scenarios of the Press and Journalism advent. He praised Pimpri Chinchwad Education Trust’s Pimpri Chinchwad University for its brilliance in providing academic excellence for all its candidates and creating esteemed leaders of tomorrow. He also quoted PCU to be one of the most popular and Trustworthy institutions when it comes to providing quality education par excellence.

Accompanying Shri Chandrakantdada Patil was Hon. Shri Harsvardhan Patil, Chancellor of PCU, Pune, and Former Minister of Maharashtra.He greeted all the attendees with warm regards and gratitude. He showed light to various discussions on the panel of discussions. He discussed the stature of Media and Press and their roles in the different sectors. These dignitaries, in sharing their profound insights, expounded on the significance of free journalism in the tapestry of our democracy, leaving the audience enriched with wisdom and encouragement.

Taking the stage next was Dr. Girish Desai, the Executive Director of Pimpri Chinchwad Education Trust, offering invaluable insights into the newly established PCU. Dr. Manimala Puri, Vice Chancellor I/c, and Dr. Rajeev Bhardwaj, Pro Vice Chancellor of PCU, and Dr. D N Singh – Registrar, PCU added to the grandeur of the occasion with their distinguished presence.
