Pimpri Chinchwad University Hosts ‘Discover Japan Event to Inspire Students Towards Global Careers

Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune – Pimpri Chinchwad University (PCU) successfully hosted the ‘Discover Japan’ event, a dynamic initiative designed to enlighten students about global career opportunities, the importance of foreign language proficiency, and cross-cultural competencies. The event featured distinguished speakers who shared valuable insights into the benefits of learning Japanese, professional prospects in Japan, and the cultural richness of the country.

The event was graced by Mr. Hari Damle, Founder Member of Japanese Language Teachers’ Association of Pune (JALTAP); Mr. Achyut Kumthekar, IT Infrastructure Operations Manager; Ms. Kshipra Potdar, Managing Director, SGS Edunet Pvt. Ltd.; and Ms. Swati Dharmadhikari, Freelancer and Head of the Origami Center, PCMC, Pune. Their expertise provided students with an immersive learning experience on Japan’s language, employment landscape, and cultural nuances.

Mr. Hari Damle spoke about the importance of learning the Japanese language, highlighting its similarities with Marathi, the significance of Kanji, and cultural aspects that can lead to a successful career in Japan. Mr. Achyut Kumthekar discussed job and placement opportunities in both Japan and India, emphasizing the growing demand for bilingual professionals in the IT and corporate sectors. Ms. Kshipra Potdar engaged students with a session on cross-cultural communication and sensitization, shedding light on how cultural understanding plays a crucial role in global business environments. Ms. Swati Dharmadhikari conducted an interactive origami session, showcasing the artistic and meditative benefits of the traditional Japanese craft.

The event was also addressed by Dr. Manimala Puri, Vice Chancellor of Pimpri Chinchwad University, who emphasized the significance of multilingual proficiency and how PCU is committed to achieving global excellence and fostering global leaders.
