ACM Student Chapter Inaugurated at Pimpri Chinchwad University
Pimpri, January 8, 2025: The inaugural ceremony of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) Student Chapter at Pimpri Chinchwad University (PCU) was held with great enthusiasm and participation. The event marked a significant milestone in fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence in the field of computing and technology.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Shitalkumar Rawandale, Dean of Industry Institute Interaction, Central Placement Cell, Pimpri Chinchwad Education Trust, as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, Dr. Rawandale emphasized the importance of industry-academia collaboration and the role of ACM in equipping students with cutting-edge skills to address real-world challenges.
The Guest of Honor, Mr. Ajay Prasad Shrivastav, Director of Software Technology Parks of India, inspired students with his insights on the dynamic landscape of technology and the role of platforms like ACM in shaping the future of computing. Yogeshwar Ade (Join Director), also graced this event as special guest.
The ceremony was presided over by PCU’s esteemed Vice Chancellor, Dr. Manimala Puri, who highlighted the university's commitment to creating a vibrant and innovative learning environment. The Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. Sudeep Thepade, extended his support and shared the university’s vision of fostering excellence in technical education.
Dr. Vijay Patil, Head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department, expressed his pride in the establishment of the ACM Student Chapter and encouraged students to take full advantage of this opportunity to advance their knowledge and skills in computing.
The inaugural function was orchestrated entirely by the enthusiastic ACM Student Members under the guidance of Prof. Rahul Ganpatrao Sonkamble (ACM Faculty Coordinator), who displayed exceptional organizational skills and professionalism. The ceremony included thought-provoking speeches and technical presentations which added vibrancy to the event. The whole ACM team was coordinated by student representatives Mr. Soham Supekar (President), Ms. Tanaya Phatangare (Vice President), Mr. Samarth Patil (Vice President), and their delegated teams.
The event was blessed by Shri Harshavardhan Patil, Chancellor of PCU, trustees Shri Dnyaneshwar P. Landge (Chairman - PCET), Smt. Padma M. Bhosale (Vice Chairperson), Shri Shantaram D. Garade (Treasurer), Shri Vitthal S. Kalbhor (Secretary), Mr. Ajinkya Kalbhor (Management Representative), and Mr. Narendra Landge (Management Representative). Their guidance and vision continue to inspire the pursuit of academic excellence and holistic development at PCU.
The ACM Student Chapter at PCU aims to provide students with a platform to engage in technical activities, research, and industry-oriented projects, while fostering a community of innovation and collaboration. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Rahul Ganpatrao Sonkamble and a commitment to making the ACM Student Chapter a beacon of excellence in the computing community at Pimpri Chinchwad University.
