2nd Deeksharambh Ceremony at PCETs Pimpri Chinchwad University Welcomes New Engineering Students
Pimpri, Pune - August 21, 2024: The School of Engineering & Technology at Pimpri Chinchwad University (PCU) hosted its 2nd Deeksharambh - Induction Ceremony to welcome the incoming batch of engineering students for the academic year 2024-25. The event, held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 11:30 AM on the PCU campus, was a grand affair filled with enthusiasm, inspiration, and a shared sense of purpose.
PCU was honoured to have Mr. Sunil Phulari, IPS, Special Inspector General of Police (IG), Kolhapur Region, Maharashtra, as the Chief Guest for the event. The Guests of Honour included Mr. Milind Chitambar, Proprietor of ASTRO MNC and former Director at Capgemini. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Pandit B. Vidyasagar, former Vice-Chancellor of Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded. The event was further graced by the presence of Dr. Girish Desai, Executive Director of PCET, Dr. Manimala Puri, Vice Chancellor (I/c) of PCU, Dr. Sudeep D. Thepade, Pro Vice Chancellor of PCU, Mr. Rajendra Waghmare, Eminent Journalist, and Dr. R. G. Biradar, Head of the Department, School of Engineering and Technology. Faculty members of the School of Engineering & Technology also presided over the event, contributing to its success.
Mr. Sunil Phulari, IPS, Special Inspector General of Police (IG), Kolhapur Region, Maharashtra, the Chief Guest, addressed the audience and interacted with them. In his address, Mr. Phulari encouraged the students to embrace discipline and integrity, emphasizing that these qualities are essential for both personal and professional success. He also shared insights from his journey in law enforcement, inspiring the students to pursue their goals with determination and resilience. He addressed the critical issue of ragging in colleges and hostels, urging students to strictly prohibit such activities at any cost and to create and maintain friendly and supportive social networks among their peers.
The Guest of Honour Mr. Milind Chitambar, Proprietor of ASTRO MNC and former Director at Capgemini, spoke about the importance of innovation and adaptability in the ever-evolving field of engineering. He urged the students to stay curious and continuously update their skills to remain relevant in the industry.
The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Pandit B. Vidyasagar, former Vice-Chancellor of Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded. Dr. Vidyasagar, in his presidential address, highlighted the significance of holistic education and the role of engineers in shaping the future. He encouraged the students to be proactive learners and to contribute positively to society.
The event also saw the presence of Dr. Girish Desai, Executive Director of Pimpri Chinchwad Education Trust (PCET), Dr. Manimala Puri, Vice Chancellor (I/c) of PCU, Dr. Sudeep D. Thepade, Pro Vice Chancellor of PCU, Mr. Rajendra Waghmare, Eminent Journalist, and Dr. R. G. Biradar, Head of the Department, School of Engineering and Technology, PCU, who each delivered inspiring speeches.
Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, students from all over India were present, showcasing the diversity of the university’s community. The event also welcomed international students from Africa, the UAE, and Nepal, reflecting PCU’s growing global presence.
Dr. Manimala Puri addressed the gathering with words of encouragement, assuring the students that they are in the right place to achieve their academic and professional aspirations. She emphasized the university's commitment to providing a supportive and enriching environment that fosters growth and development.
Dr. Sudeep D. Thepade, in his address, spoke about the importance of perseverance and hard work in the journey of education. He motivated the students to take full advantage of the opportunities available at PCU and to strive for excellence in all their endeavors.
